What we believe in
We are driven by the Tseltal concept of
Buhts’an Qu’inal
or tasting life,
which implies harmony with one self, with the other people, with nature and with transcendence.
Why we do it?
Chiapas is highly
inequitable
The richest decile in the state has an income 18 times higher than that of the lowest decile
(INEGI, 2017).
Chiapas is the poorest
state in Mexico
6 out of 10 people live in poverty and 6 of the 15 poorest municipalities in the country are in its territory (CONEVAL, 2022).
Marginalization is inherited from generation to generation
These conditions make this cycle of marginalization a never-ending story.
Its cultural diversity translates
into marginalization
Around 40% of the population of Chiapas is indigenous and their income, schooling and services are below the national average.
Each community owns its development. We are only a leverage point to generate opportunities with the communities and for them to move towards self-management.
We adopt the principles of the social and solidarity economy as a basis for solving inequalities in society.
We trust the Tseltal people and their values, we learn from their wisdom, their culture and their relationship with the environment, because although these communities are in a situation of poverty, they have enormous cultural and environmental wealth.
